I realize that strategy can mean different things to different people. What I mean by “strategy” is the focus on the strategic outlook, the proverbial “big picture”. While that seems simple enough, most clients that I have worked with are not looking for a strategy, they are looking for something a little more tangible like a website or an online/e-mail campaign.

So, how would I quantify "strategy" within an actionable deliverable? This could range from an annual marketing plan to a go-to-market strategy to campaign concepting.

My favorite strategies that I have been involved with had a few things in common: room for a creative approach, integration with multiple channels to reach the audience where they consume information and optimization so that the results only get better over time.

a little bit

about me.

After moving to Utah from California quite a few years ago, I have come to love Utah. With unfettered access to endless outdoor activities coupled with the convenience of the “downtown”, it is hard not to love.

It’s here in Salt Lake City that I have owned and managed a small design and marketing firm for 5 years. This was the culmination of my passion for pointed communication and effective design. With over 40 clients in 5 states, we worked on hundreds of different projects and campaigns. Of this I am proud.

I work at the most award-winning advertising agency in Utah, Richter7, where I manage the stategy and resources on the digital side of things as the Director of Digital Marketing.

park city.

A client that wanted to increase exposure of the summer activities of a resort town known for its winter activities. What was expected was an online media campaign. What we delivered went far beyond the immediate goal by capturing over 11,000 new self-segmented leads.

We are now nurturing last year’s leads with dynamic content e-mail programs based upon the activities they have selected and have greatly increased the exposure for this year’s version of the campaign due to its success. We turned a summer campaign into an effective summer campaign for years to come.
